This map art print is based on my plein air painting created on top of a USGS map near Lake City, Colorado. It features Red Mountain near Uncompahgre Peak in the San Juan Mountains, with those iron-rich reds and rugged alpine terrain that make this part of Colorado feel so distinct.

I love map pieces because they hold the story of the place in two ways at once: the landscape you can feel, and the geography that pins it to a real location. This one is for Colorado people, hikers, and anyone who’s drawn to the raw, high-country character of the San Juans.
