This map art print is based on my plein air painting created on top of a USGS map on Red Mountain Pass, between Ouray and Silverton, Colorado. It features two of the Red Mountains and that unmistakable high-country terrain, where the peaks really do glow with iron-rich color.

I love map pieces because they hold the story of the place in two ways at once: the landscape you can feel, and the geography that pins it to a real location. This one is for Colorado people, hikers, and anyone who’s driven that stretch of the San Juans and immediately wanted to pull over.
