This map art print is based on my plein air painting created on top of a USGS map in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains. It features a turquoise alpine lake (Columbine Lake) with layered peaks and lingering snowfields, plus a foreground of summer wildflowers. The map lines and place names show through in spots, tying the painting back to the real terrain it came from.

I love map pieces because they hold the story of the place in two ways at once: the landscape you can feel, and the geography that pins it to a real location. This one is for hikers, lake people, and anyone who’s happiest up high in the San Juans and wants a bright, mountain-season reminder on their wall.
