Montezuma Highway Map Art Original Painting

This original acrylic painting is based on one of my favorite views in southwest Colorado, looking down the Montezuma Highway toward Hesperus Peak. I painted it on top of a topographic map, so the terrain and place names are literally part of the piece. The road pulls you straight into the landscape, with dark tree lines framing the way and the mountains catching that warm, late-day color.

I love road paintings like this because they feel like motion and memory at the same time. This one is for Colorado people, road trip lovers, and anyone who knows that specific kind of quiet you get when you’re driving toward the mountains and the horizon keeps getting better.
