The Needles Sunset Original Painting

This original acrylic painting is my take on the Needles in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, painted in my studio as a wide, panoramic scene. I leaned into bold color and shape here, with warm rust and amber tones cutting through cool blues and purples, like that last stretch of light when the mountains start to glow and everything else drops into shadow.

At 24" x 72", it’s meant to feel immersive. The long format pulls your eye across the whole range, with layered ridgelines and snowfields that keep revealing new details the longer you look.
