Dallas Divide Original Painting

This original painting was inspired by one of Colorado’s most classic fall views: Dallas Divide outside Ridgway. I painted it plein air in autumn 2025, right when the aspens were turning and the whole landscape was doing that unreal gold-and-green thing for about five minutes.

I leaned into the bright aspen color and the deep shadows that cut through the foreground, with the mountains sitting back in cooler tones. If you’ve ever pulled over on that stretch just to stare for a second, this one’s for you.

Currently on display at the Art Collective in Durango, Colorado.
